Emerson LeRoy Cummings (March 16, 1902January 24, 1986) was a United States Army Lieutenant General prominent as the Army’s Chief of Ordnance and commander of the Fifth United States Army.
==Early life==
Cummings was born in New Boston, Michigan on March 16, 1902.〔Newspaper article, Chief of Ordnance, by United Press International, published in The Holland (Michigan) Journal, November 2, 1953〕 He graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1924 and was assigned to the Engineer branch.〔(Genealogical Succession, Graduates of the United States Military Academy ), excerpted from the Register of Graduates and Former Cadets, published by the Alumni Society, 2005, page 1〕
